Is your solar battery offline or not charging?
Fix My Solar diagnoses faults affecting solar batteries, hybrid inverters, monitoring systems and their electrical connections. We identify whether the problem is caused by configuration, communication, wiring, inverter operation or the battery system itself. We support existing solar PV battery systems across Ireland, including those installed by other companies. We do not service solar thermal or hot water systems.
- Battery not charging from solar generation.
- Battery not supplying power to the home.
- Battery offline in the monitoring application.
- Sudden loss of usable battery capacity.
- Battery management or communication errors.
- Hybrid inverter warning codes.
- Incorrect charge schedule or operating mode.
- Faults following a power cut or firmware update.
Safe, system-level battery diagnosis
Whole-System Diagnosis
We consider the battery, hybrid inverter, communications, metering, protections and operating settings together.
Remote Evidence
Screenshots, charge history and error messages help identify whether remote checks or an on-site visit should come next.
Safe Boundaries
Battery modules are not opened on site. We diagnose the system and follow safe, manufacturer-appropriate corrective routes.
Settings and Communication
Not every battery problem is a failed battery. Configuration, metering and communication faults can prevent normal charging.
Manufacturer Requirements
We explain when manufacturer support, an authorised repair route or a warranty claim is required.
Compatible Next Step
If replacement is appropriate, compatibility with the inverter, control system and usable capacity must be confirmed.
Why a solar battery may stop working
A battery shown as offline or unavailable is not necessarily defective. The cause may be an operating schedule, state-of-charge protection, metering error, lost communication, hybrid inverter fault, firmware condition, electrical protection or the battery itself. Diagnosis must consider the complete storage system.
Battery not charging
Available solar generation, reserve settings, time schedules, export rules, temperature limits and system mode can affect charging. Monitoring data helps distinguish expected behaviour from a fault.
Battery not discharging
The system may be protecting a minimum reserve, following a tariff schedule, receiving incorrect meter information or reporting a communication problem. The battery and inverter status should be reviewed together.
Battery offline
Loss of communication can make a healthy component appear unavailable. Cabling, network state, inverter communications, supported firmware and manufacturer platform status may all be relevant.
Reduced usable capacity
Capacity changes can relate to settings, temperature, cell balancing, age or a reported battery condition. A monitoring screenshot alone cannot confirm battery health; system evidence must be interpreted carefully.
Solar battery fault questions
Can you help with a battery installed by another company?
Yes. We assess existing systems, although manufacturer portals, warranty processes and replacement-part availability vary by brand and model.
Can a sealed solar battery be repaired on site?
Battery modules should not be opened on site. Some surrounding system faults can be corrected, while battery-internal conditions normally require a manufacturer-approved route or replacement.
What should I send before booking?
Send the battery and inverter brands and models, screenshots or photographs of errors, recent charge behaviour and your Eircode. Do not remove covers or disconnect battery cables.
Will replacing the battery solve every storage fault?
No. A hybrid inverter, meter, communication link, configuration or protection issue can produce similar symptoms. The cause should be identified before replacement is chosen.
