Is your inverter showing an error or producing less power?
Fix My Solar provides professional inverter diagnostics and repair for homes, farms and businesses across Ireland. We work on systems installed by other companies and investigate the cause before recommending repair or replacement. Send the inverter brand, model, fault code and photographs when booking. This service covers solar PV electricity systems; we do not repair solar thermal or hot water systems.
- Inverter not starting or repeatedly shutting down.
- Red warning light or persistent fault code.
- No generation or unexpectedly low output.
- Grid voltage and grid connection errors.
- DC string, connector, isolation or wiring faults.
- Inverter overheating or unusual noise.
- Communication, monitoring or Wi-Fi problems.
- Hybrid inverter and battery communication faults.
Inverter diagnosis before replacement
Fault Isolation
We test the connected system to identify whether the fault is in the inverter, battery, wiring, protection or configuration.
Useful Information First
Send the equipment model, error code, photographs and Eircode so we can prepare for the diagnosis.
Clear Recommendation
We explain the findings, available options and cost before repair or replacement work begins.
Repair or Replacement
Where a durable repair is possible, we explain it. If replacement is more appropriate, we check electrical and monitoring compatibility first.
Systems Installed by Others
You can request diagnosis even when the original installer is unavailable. Manufacturer access and warranty procedures may vary.
Operation Confirmed
After approved work, we test operation and confirm what was corrected, replaced or referred to the manufacturer.
How an inverter fault is investigated
An inverter error does not automatically mean the inverter has failed. The cause can be on the DC side, the AC supply, a protection device, system configuration, communications or inside the inverter. A structured diagnosis avoids replacing equipment before the connected system has been checked.
Before the visit
Send the brand and model, the complete error code, photographs of the display and surrounding equipment, your Eircode and the approximate date the problem began. Monitoring screenshots are useful when available. Do not remove covers or reset electrical protection repeatedly.
During diagnosis
The relevant checks may include inverter status, AC supply, PV strings, DC voltage, isolation, connectors, protection devices, settings and monitoring communications. The exact scope depends on the installation and the reported fault.
When repair may be suitable
Some problems can be resolved through safe electrical correction, replacement of an external component, configuration, communications recovery or a manufacturer-supported procedure. Internal inverter repairs depend on the model, parts and manufacturer support.
When replacement may be better
Replacement may be recommended when equipment is obsolete, internally damaged, unsupported or uneconomical to repair. A replacement must match the array, grid connection, battery system and monitoring requirements.
Solar inverter repair questions
Can you diagnose an inverter installed by another company?
Yes. Fix My Solar assesses existing PV systems. Access to proprietary portals, warranty claims and manufacturer parts can differ, so provide the equipment details before booking.
Does a red light mean the inverter needs replacement?
No. It confirms that attention is required, but the underlying cause must be tested. Grid, wiring, isolation, configuration and communication faults can produce inverter warnings.
Can the problem be checked remotely?
Monitoring data and photographs can help narrow the possibilities. Electrical faults and uncertain equipment conditions generally require an on-site inspection.
Is it safe to restart the inverter myself?
Follow only the normal user instructions supplied by the manufacturer. Do not open electrical enclosures or disconnect cables. If a fault returns, record it and arrange professional diagnosis.
